On July 21, the Inauguration Ceremony of CIETAC Anhui Office was held at the press release hall of Anhui Provincial Government Service Center. CIETAC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Yu Jianlong, Deputy Secretary-General of Anhui Provincial Government Zhang Wuyang, Chairman of CCPIT Anhui Sub-Council Zhang Gang, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Commerce Zhu Ning, Deputy Director of the provincial Justice Department Sha Qizhi, Deputy Inspector of Provincial Political and Legal Committee Zhao Ziguo and nearly a hundred representatives from provincial associations of lawyers, branches of CCPIT Anhui Sub-Council, and the business industry attended the opening ceremony. Vice Chairman Yu Jianlong expressed his congratulations on the establishment of the Auhui Office in his speech. He said that, since the establishment of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission 60 years ago, it has always acted in accordance with international practice and the principles of independence, impartiality and efficiency when handling international and domestic trade dispute cases. CIETAC has become one of the world's most famous and most authoritative arbitration institutions, enjoying an important position and influence in the area of international commercial arbitration. He explained to the attendees the unique advantages and role of arbitration in the settlement of disputes. He also pointed out that Anhui is among the most dynamic central provinces regarding foreign economic activities. It has huge development potential and broad prospects. To strengthen commercial law services, including arbitration, in the process of Anhui’s foreign economic and trade cooperation, has a great significance for the foreign economic development in Anhui. CIETAC, through its Anhui office, will provide professional and efficient trade arbitration services to enterprises in Anhui and contribute to the development of Anhui.

Zhang Gang, Chairman of CCPIT Anhui Sub-Council said in his speech that, as a rapidly rising province in central China, Anhui is becoming more active in participating in more and more international economic and trade activities while trade and economic cooperation continue to increase. Development of high level, specialized commercial arbitration service is a must in Anhui’s process of building up foreign economic activities. CIETAC Anhui Office is set up here and located in the office of CCPIT Anhui Sub-Council, which demonstrates the trust and support that CCPIT and CIETAC attach to Anhui economic and trade development, as well as to the Anhui Sub-Council of CCPIT, i.e. International Chamber of Commerce of Anhui Province. CCPIT Anhui Sub-Council will support the Office in all aspects of work, and actively assist in the functioning of the Office.

A professional training session was held after the opening ceremony. CIETAC experts provided professional opinions on the role, its mechanism and legal document format of commercial arbitration. Near a hundred people from local SOEs, well-known enterprises and lawyers attended the session. In the workshop held later, CIETAC experts also had a heated discussion with more than 30 enterprise representative and lawyers on legal issues in foreign trade.
