On 31 July 2014, the Arbitrator Certificate Presentation Ceremony of CIETAC/CMAC arbitrators in Hong Kong and foreign jurisdictions & Arbitrators Seminar were successfully held in Hong Kong. Some 70 CIETAC/CMAC arbitrators from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as foreign countries like the UK, Canada, New Zealand, the US, Australia, France, Spain and Turkey attended the event. CIETAC/CMAC arbitrators based in southern China also attended the seminar and exchanged views with arbitrators from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries.
The event was chaired by Dr. Wang Wenying, Secretary General of the CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center. Dr. Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of CIETAC and CMAC and Secretary General of CIETAC, delivered a keynote speech on the latest development of CIETAC and CMAC.
The two topics of the arbitrators seminar were both on the latest business development of the CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center. The first topic concerns the fee schedule of the arbitration center, and the second is on emergency arbitrator procedures. Brad Wang of the CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center briefed the arbitrators attending the seminar the purpose and key elements of the two documents. Tao Jingzhou, Chrispher To and Thomas So co-chaired the discussion under the first topic, while the second topic of the discussion was chaired by David Bateson, James Kwan and Peter Koh. The arbitrators attending the seminar had a heated discussion on the two topics and offered their valuable opinions and suggestions.
